5 Things to Consider When Moving Your Business

5 Things to Consider When Moving Your Business

You’ve had a really great year, and you’re ready to make a push to grow the business.  You need to add staff to accommodate this pending growth spurt, but you just don’t have the space. A decision is made to find a new location. A month or so later, a new location is secured and the real fun begins- planning the move. Moving your business is more than just hiring movers to transport your furniture, painting the walls of the new space, and changing your address on the web.  Here are 5 things to consider when moving your business: Service Providers – When we say service providers, we are referring to internet, cable, phone, etc. Service providers typically only provide their services to certain areas. When you find a location you are interested in, you will have to call various providers to find out who covers that location.  When we say call, we really mean call.  Some provider’s web sites will tell you that your location is covered, however if you speak to a representative you’ll sometimes find out they are still building their network in that area or that your building isn’t fully connected to their infrastructure.  This could cause delays in your move if you can’t obtain services in a timely manner.  You also need to decide if you’ll be making the move during business hours, or off hours.  If you’re keeping the same service provider, plan to move during business hours, and want to remain operational during the move, you will need to make a special request for an overlap in service.  A service provider will...

The Cost of Cybercrime Increases by 36.5% Since 2016

According to Symantec’s 2017 Norton Cyber Security Insights Report, globally in 2017 victims lost a total of $172 billion due to cybercrimes. Out of that $172 billion, American consumers lost $19.4 billion alone. In reading through the reports, it seems like overconfidence is the top issue when it comes to consumers protecting themselves against cybercriminals. In the age of thumb print and facial recognition, it can be easy to forget the basics when it comes to protecting ourselves. Simple steps such as not sharing passwords, not using duplicate passwords across accounts, changing passwords periodically or writing passwords down on paper are still being over looked. Consumers still fail at making sure they have an anti-virus installed on their devices, along with keeping that anti-virus up to date.  Suspicious email scams are also still very much alive and well.  Consumers still open emails from unknown senders, and download files from suspicious emails.  These are all very basic steps that in 2018, should be common knowledge amongst technology users, but we tend to forget because we over-confidently think that “nothing will happen to me”. Cybercrimes not only affect consumers on a personal level, but if you run a business “in the cloud”, they can affect the core of your business as well. Business owners really need to consider the security risks involved in cloud computing. The New York Times released an article discussing two major flaws inside nearly all of the world’s computers, this includes the computers used by your cloud based storage system. One flaw called Meltdown, allows hackers to use their rented cloud space to obtain other consumers information...

5 Things to Consider When Looking for Small Business Tech Support Services

1) Cost When you own a small business, the numbers mean everything. Weigh out the options and do your research when it comes to considering how much you’re willing to spend on small business tech support services.  Take into consideration things like: How often do you have issues? How secure is your network? Have you ever had a professional test the security of your network? What did you spend the previous year on technology expenses? From there, you can decide on a budget that fits your needs.  Once you decide on a budget, weigh out the cost options of hiring an in-house IT staff, hourly by-the-job tech support and hiring a IT Managed Service Provider (IT MSP). Unsure of what an IT MSP is? Check out 5 Benefits to Managed IT Support 2) Reliability System down time at a small business can be detrimental, especially when it’s during peak business hours. When researching which type of small business tech support services would be best for you, consider how reliable they will be: What is their response time? Will someone always be available, even after 5pm? If someone is terminated, on vacation, sick, etc., do you/they have a backup plan? 3) Range of Services Stretching a dollar is important for small businesses, so when you’re considering small business tech support services, you want to get the most bang for your buck.  Think about the range of services when it comes to your options: Who would have the widest range knowledge? Compared to price, who offers the most service? Will you have to hire multiple professionals to get a job done?...

What does PBX stand for?

What does PBX stand for? The abbreviation PBX is used often when describing business phone systems, but what does PBX stand for? PBX stands for Private Branch Exchange. A PBX system is a secure phone network used within an organization. IP PBX is really the only way to go at this point. With technology seemingly changing faster than time the PBX systems are now outdated and replaced by the IP PBX systems. The main difference between the PBX and the IP PBX is that the IP PBX runs on an internet connection. With the phone system running on internet connection it allows you to have an infinite number of phones and phone lines coming in and out of the office. IP PBX also offers you great functions that otherwise would be a hassle to set up and use. Voicemail, queues, and other options should come standard and now they do with the IP PBX. IP PBX is a system that will make your office run much smoother. Communication can make or break an organization. An IP PBX takes all the worry out of your office communication. Innovative Network Solutions can help you find the best PBX system for you business needs. Contact us today to learn more about the PBX systems available to you. Managed IT Services – IT MSP

What are Managed IT Services? You’ve probably heard of tech support, IT support, or help desk support, but a term you may not be familiar with is Managed IT services. In its simplest form, you can think of an IT Managed Service Provider (IT MSP) as your business IT support and technology consultant.  Services covered vary with each technology MSP. Why choose Managed IT services? How do you make repairs to your current network, computer, or web site? Do you call a contracted computer support tech, who is paid hourly and seems to take as much time as possible to make any progress? Do you have an in house IT support person? What happens if the IT person quits?  Do you have the need for an in house IT person, but do not have the budget? Do you let things go until they are unbearable?  Running into these situations is why Managed IT services are beneficial. Toshiba Telecom Division Closure

The Toshiba Telecom Division closure went into effect as of March 21, 2017. What does this mean for existing Toshiba clients? If you need Toshiba system support, how expeditiously would you receive that support? Would replacement components for the Toshiba phones still be available? Many questions surround the closure, but at the core of the issue, the fact still remains that the division will cease to exist. Toshiba has given dealers until May 22, 2017 to place any additional orders, so with that being said, it seems replacement components will no longer be available as well. It seems for their current client base, there are really only two options; risk it, or take preventative measures. You could risk it by staying on the Toshiba system, and hoping you won’t need any replacement components. You could be a savvy business owner and take preventative measures by finding a new provider/system before anything happens. While it’s easy to say, “Everything is fine, we don’t need to switch right now”, you may end up saying, “I wish I would have considered another option” when things go awry. Don’t wait until your system is down to find a new alternative. With so many options available, it can become a time consuming task deciding the best phone system for your business. At INS we specialize in helping businesses not only purchase, install, learn and support new phone systems, but save money while doing so. By allowing us to performing us in depth phone analysis, some of our clients have received a completely new business phone system for FREE! Monthly phone support options are available...
